The motor works, thanx to Vijayan sir and Mechanical lab staff. Today morning at 8:45am i reached EEE dept: along with Roshmon. We had to wait for an hour for Vijayan sir to arrive. Then we connected wires to the motor. It wasa tedious task as only a small portion of the connection wires appeared at the input terminals of motor. Then we took the assembly to Circuits lab where we connected it to the supply. At first it was connected to 12V, then to 24V and 36V. The motor started rotating with a initial jerk drawing a no-load continuous current of .4A and starting current of 1.5A at 36V. The motor resistance was found high than what i expected it to be. But it turned out to be a bonus for us as the motor provided the enough torque drawing less current when loaded as the field flux of the PMDC is very high. This made our relay driver circuit design easier. Now the work is on mechanical design and we have already started. Its a glad news that i have Shyam and Roshan with me for full-time work and am sure we will succeed! :)
